Summerfield Stables - Horses in the community

Riding at shows

To be elligable to ride at a show you must be a regular helper at the stables on a saturday or other equivalent day. This can be discussed on an individual basis with us. To ride at a show you must pay the appropriate money for your class yourself. You must come prepared which means being responsible for your own belongings. None can ride in a show unless they own their own hat and body protector.

For a normal showjumping class you will need:
Hat
Body  protector
Entry Money
Tie
White shirt
Show Jacket (Black or Blue)
Cream Jodhpurs
Jodhpur Boots or long Boots
HAIRNET
Whip
A Horse or Pony!

Other classes may have different requirements.
FOR ALL SHOWS PLEASE BRING A WATERPROOF COAT!!

Helping with shows

To help with shows we normally require people to be of secondary school age and to be experienced in handling the ponies. To have a lift from us they must be down the field early in order to get the horses ready (the time we get there is different for each show). If they can arrange lifts separately then they can meet us at the show ground. Anyone helping must come prepared which includes wearing appropriate (smart and clean) horsey clothing and having money for lunch or a packed lunch.

Alvechurch riding club show

This is on during the summer every month. We usually attend the jumping classes and some showing classes.

Kings Heath Show- 26th May(Bank Holiday Monday)

This show is held on the Second Bank Holiday in May and so it nearly always rains! This year we didn't want to get too wet so we took the little ponies instead as they were easier to keep dry.

Tuesday Night Showjumping

This is held at Solihull riding club on the first of every month. As it is held in the evening it is only possible to take the horses that will go in the horse trailer- not Belle. This is generally for the Sunday riders and particularly as a thank you to anyone who has helped in the week or on the Saturday afternoon lessons. It is a mini clear round jumping and the cost is five pounds per round. Must have insurance, own hat and body protector, correct riding boots (not really mucker's or muck boots), clean jodhpurs, a cross country shirt or similar and a warm waterproof coat. Money for food and drink is always a good idea or bring your own if you are broke!

Wythall Riding Club Show

This is the show ground closest to the field and the show is held approximately once a month. The show ground itself is on houndsfield lane wythall.
