Client Equipment Policy

Riding hats are available to borrow for those who do not have their own. Wearing a riding hat
that meets current safety standards (PAS 015 and kitemarked) is mandatory for all riders. If
you choose to bring a personal hat, it must meet these standards. For cross-country riding,
only skull caps are permitted. Riders with long hair will be required to tie this back. For those
who wear religious headcoverings, a helmet will still be required but can be fitted over the
top.
We recommend that riders wear a long-sleeved top and full-length trousers; jodhpurs,
leggings, or tracksuit bottoms are all comfortable options. Clothing should not include
flapping fabric and hoods must not be worn unless securely fastened. Riding gloves are
strongly recommended.
Footwear must be closed-toe with a small heel, such as paddock or riding boots. Heavy or
chunky boots should be avoided as they can make it difficult to use stirrups safely. Riding
boots are not provided, so please ensure footwear meets the requirements outlined above.
These clothing guidelines are strongly recommended; however, our coaches will make the
final decision on whether a rider’s attire is safe and suitable.
Body protectors in the arena are not compulsory but are strongly recommended. Body
protectors are mandatory on XC fields. Please note that air body protectors/air jackets are
not permitted. In addition, the use of body cameras and hat-mounted cameras is not allowed
during sessions.
Please also check the weather forecast before attending and ensure your child is
appropriately dressed for the conditions. Please note, Summerfield’s arena is an outdoor
arena.
For reference, we will include an image illustrating approved safety standards for riding hats
and body protectors (as of May 2026).
