Today Maisey went on her very first hack out ridden by Jasmine. She was well behaved and seemed happy to have the change from being ridden in the field. We also took out Bess, Merlin, Belle and Bobby ridden by Jem, Jade, Lauren and Alice. While doing this Ros, Sheree and Nina took a donkey to the Church of the Ascension for their Palm Sunday Parade. Tommy the donkey was well behaved but it rained a lot.
We are hoping that our new stables can be paid for by Birmingham city council on Monday. Also the contractors will be coming down the field to survey the ground work this Monday with the hope of starting work with the diggers a week Tuesday. Hopefully the base will be put in in just over a week. The stables are a custom build and there is a waiting list so we could be waiting a little longer than we planned for them. Today Ros Heidi and I went on a trip to Staffordshire (Heidi was off school and was helping out in the morning). We went to see a 15.0 spotted cob called Buster who we had seen for sale on horsemart. As we needed a bigger horse to take some of the workload off Merlin and Bess we decided to take a look. We didn't even get lost on the way there and were relieved to find the right place although Millie, who was also in the back of the car was not so pleased to see two other dogs! Buster was very good to try although wasn't really that keen on doing much work as he has been out of work for a little while so is a bit unfit. We decided that Buster would fit in well and so he will be coming to us after Easter but will go to Rowney Green first so we can get used to him. The planning permission came through on Thursday. We have permission to build 10 new stables and also and outdoor arena. We have already recieved nearly £8,000 of funding for the first block of four stables so these should be built very soon. We hope to find funding for the rest of the stables and the arena soon so watch this space. |
GeorgeI am the Chair of the Committee that runs Summerfield Stables. I like helping out with the horses as much as I can but I find it hard to find the time. Archives
