Appeal for Fund Raising for the Winter Hay
We are appealing for people to help fundraise for the horses winter hay this year. Each bale of hay or straw costs on average £2.50 but this may go up if we have to get more in the middle of the winter. In total we need £1,000 worth of hay and straw. We are looking for those involved with the horse to help fundraise for this so we can all realise and appreciate hom much it costs to keep the horses going and all help out a little and share the responsibility. We are therfore asking individuals to take responsibility for their own fundraising. Most people are asking relatives to collect spare change, in jars, lucazade bottles or even in an old riding boot! Other people are interested in doing sponsored events. These range for sponsored bike rides, walks or a sponsored silence. We are contacting Sainsbury's in Shirley as we will be doing bag packing there to raise money as well as taking the little ponies up for people to pet. There will be a prize for the individual who single handedly raises the most money as well as to the one who helps others to raise the most. Please ask all friends and family to get involved and contact me if you have any ideas!
Alice and Jasmine's swap lives for the day
To raise money for the winter hay Alice and Jasmine are going to swap lives for the day. This includes going to each others houses, wearing each others clothes and doing each others duties (like tidying each others bedrooms). There will be an opportunity for people to sponsor this on saturday so please all be ready to support them in this activity!
Donations
Keeping a lot of horses costs a lot and we are always seeking donations to help with the cost of keeping the horses. These one off donations could go towards the cost of the winter hay or putting rubber matting in a stable for a horse with COPD or perhaps to bur equipment like a new saddle. We also welcome donations of equipment like rugs, brushing boots, saddles etc as often horses come without tack and we then struggle to kit them out.
Sponsorship
Another way to help is to sponsor one aspect of the horses care over a specified length of time. There are lots of routine costs involved with keeping horses and knowing these costs can be met will give the project added security. An important cost is the cost of shoeing which can be very expensive and the horses need to be seen by the farrier every six weeks to have a set of new shoes or a trim.
The costs for shoeing for each individual pony are as follows:
Buster- Full Set £50
Apollo- Full Set £50
Bobby- Full Set £50
Coco-Full Set £50
Twiggy- Front Shoes £25
Mona- Front Shoes £25

How To Sponsor or Donate
If you are interested in donating or sponsoring to help us to look after the ponies then please contact us. This may be for a yourself, a present for someone or a mascot for a business or club. If you are at school you may even be able to get your class to sponsor the horses or fundraise for them. You will be the only person to sponsor that individual aspect of the ponies care. Your name will also appear on this page of the website showing that you sponsor that aspect of the ponies care (or you can remain anonymous if you wish).
Each individual or business who sponsors pony care will receive:
A letter of thanks from the organisation
A photo and profile of the pony you are helping
Regular updates if you wish of what our organisation is doing
An oppotunity to visit your pony for a personal thankyou!
In the case of one off donations of money please make cheques payable to Summerfield Stables. For sponsorship it may be easiest to set up a direct debit which can be done by contacting us.
