 Information for Schools

Summerfield Stables can offer many different opportunities for young people and has experience of working alongside schools in the Birmingham area. There are many different opportunities for students both individually and for groups of students. These include:
  • Students on day release from school
  • Students on day release from school studying NVQs
  • School trips
  • Work Experience placements
  • Taster sessions
  • After school clubs

Students on Day release from school

Students who struggle with a whole week at school, find it difficult to study in a class atmosphere or just have a passion for animals and want to boost their CV may find this option beneficial. Students of any age at secondary school can spend one day a week at the field as part of the regular team. This will help to boost their teamwork skills and allow them a taste of the more adult atmosphere of work where a more mature attitude is needed. This is idea for some students as a CV booster and for learning extra skills without the pressure of studying and putting together a portfolio for an NVQ .

Students on day release from school studying for BHS exams

For students who want a qualification then this can become an option after they have built up the skills necessary to join the programme. Students are assessed  verbally and practically rather than by a written assessment. For more information please see the British Horse Societies' home page
