Fundraising

We would like to say three big thankyou's - firstly to Tesco's in Shirley for allowing us to fundraise outside their store on Thursday and Friday and secondly to all our riders and parents who helped with the fundraising and thirdly to all those who donated money. The combined total of the two days funding has been around £800 (I do not have the exact total to hand but I can update you as soon as I confirm it)

I would also like to thank people for the promise of more help:

Mary and Andrea for offering to help replace tack and equiptment
Joanna for offering to get friends to help donate tack
David and those at QSP Ltd and the Birmingham Federation of Master Builders (Business Group) for their donation of £1000 towards tack!

Thankyou all so much. So that people can be assured we are doing our best to look after the things donated to us we would like to assure everybody that we are being assessed by a security firm who will be installing CCTV and alarms with money from the donations. This is essential to stop this from happening again!

First of all a big thankyou to the Birmingham Mail for including us in their paper.

Then a huge list of thankyou's to those who have offered to help or have already donated:

Cath for her donation of a saddle and bridle
Kerry at Middleton Equestrian for her donation of several items of tack including two saddles
Rosa for her offer of help volunteering
Jayne for her offer of motivating a local horsie forum to donate tack
Dianne for her offer of two saddles
Eleanor for her offer of a cash donation
Amir for his offer of a cash donation and to help us to increase security!
Solihull riding school for their offer of emailing their members asking them to donate tack.

We hope to get the stables secure as a matter of urgency and then we will be able to restock.

Donations start arriving

After a difficult weekend we have been encouraged by the donations of tack and money that have been arriving to help us to replace what was lost. It has really encouraged everyone at the stables and has made us feel much more positive in the light of this difficult time. We will be contacting local papers, tv and radio in order to try to get information about the theft and also to ask for donations.

the things we really need are:

Saddles- Second hand english leather or synthetic (we have a particular need of pony saddles especially for shetlands)
Bridles- english leather (we have found the cheaper ones do not last as well but a good second hand english leather bridle lasts ages)
Numnahs and Saddle cloths
WHEELBARROWS- yes they took nearly all our wheelbarrows

Next a BIG THANKYOU to those who have already donated:

Sue for her donation of three saddles
Our friends at the Church of the Ascension for the donation of money to replace tack
Ishpree's mum for contacting the newspapers and local businesses
Erica for conatacting local radio

Tack room break in- Friday 10th August

8/14/2012

On Saturday morning when we came down to feed the horse we made a very sad discovery. The tackroom had been broken into and all our saddles and bridles were taken. This was a very upsetting discover as this will cost a lot to replace and it means that many of the horses will not be able to be exercised so a lot of our hard work in schooling them will be set back. The police hae registered the break in but little can be done to find out who did it and all we can do is to increase security and work hard to replace the tack we have lost.

I am the Chair of the Committee that runs Summerfield Stables. I like helping out with the horses as much as I can but I find it hard to find the time.
